John graduated with first class hours from the Queensland University of Technology. He has 20 years extensive experience in both private and optometry practices as well as ophthalmology (eye specialist/surgeon) clinics. In 1997, he completed the SUNY Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics and has also obtained the QUT Graduate Certificate of Ocular Therapeutics.
John can prescribe eye medications and manage diseases such as glaucoma.
Carmen also graduated with Honours from QUT in 1995 and has a Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics to prescribe eye medications. She has wide ranging experience in a variety of optometry practices as well as a decade of ocular disease co-management in Ophthalmologist clinics.
CASA certifies Carmen to assess vision for pilots licences and she has an interest in children’s vision.
Shirley-Ann is our receptionist with 10 years of experience in the optical industry and a keen interest in fashion. She is a trained artist with a great sense of style so can really help match your facial shape and colourings to choose the glasses that are great for you.
Roxanne is our super-organised practice manager who makes sure everything runs smoothly. If you’re after help choosing glasses then she can guide you to a great choice.
Time – If you have only ever had an eye test at one of the larger corporations you will find a completely different experience at Byrnes Optometrists. We allow 40 minutes for a comprehensive examination (as opposed to common corporate 20 minutes).
